Minnesota Literacy Day at the Capitol

April 17, 2024 @ 9:45 am - 11:00 am

Join us for our Minnesota Literacy Day at the Capitol. We want to see STRONG IMPLEMENTATION of The READ Act for students and teachers! Minnesota worked hard to pass The READ Act last year, but we aren’t done and we need to show legislators we aren’t going anywhere until all can read. Minnesota needs to gets this right. Can we count of you to be there? You will find more details about what to expect for the day on our Ways to Take Action page.

Agenda:
9:45 am Arrive at the Rotunda.
Participate in group photo in the Rotunda (bring your poster).
10:00 am Literacy Rally begins! Hear speeches from students, teachers, advocates, and state legislators!
11:00 am Crowd adjourns to mingle & attend meetings with legislators, if you have made appointments.

Engage your children!

  • Make a poster with a slogan to show your support. Gather others in your district to make signs and plan to attend together.
  • Bring your bandana from last year if you still have it – we will also have new swag this year!
  • Contact your legislator now to set up an appointment for the afternoon of April 17. Or stop by your legislators’ offices together to drop off your letter after the rally. Even if you were not able to make an appointment, you can go by their office.
